ISO 14001:2015, How is the Revised Standard Better?
To better respond to the latest trends, the ISO 14001:2004 standard was revised to ISO 14001:2015. The revision also factors in both internal and external elements that influence their environmental impact.
In the ISO 14001:2015 standard, there are a few new elements such as the Leadership, Life-Cycle Thinking, and Risk-based Thinking. The leadership component focuses on the commitment from the management to align with the company’s overall strategic direction. Whereas for the life-cycle thinking, this element focuses on considering each stage of the process from development to end-of-life. In risk-based thinking, the standard encourages the organisation to consider all possible risk that may impact their environmental process.
